Fiona Hoare has been the LBT Welfare Officer since the role was created in 2005. The role as the club Welfare Officer (CWO) is to:

  • help the club follow the guidelines laid down by the BTA Good Practice and Child Protection Policy and Procedures.
  • ensure that new initiatives and information from the BTA are communicated to the club and its members
  • ensure that Good Practice and Child Protection is an item on the club committee meeting agendas
  • ensure that all club personnel working with young people have received child protection training.

The BTA takes child protection very seriously and has appointed and trained two employees to act as designated national Child Protection Officers. Every BTA affiliated club must have a nominated Club Welfare Officer. This officer in turn must attend a 3 hour Child Protection course as a requirement of the post, which Fiona has completed.

If anyone has any concerns or suspicions about child welfare within Triathlon do not hestiate to contact the welfare officer on (H) 0113 267 8994, on (M) 07710 618642 or by e-mail at welfare.officer@lbt.org.uk
