Dates for 2012 reliability rides are as follows:

29 Jan: Seacroft Wheelers (9.30 from Squires Cafe Bar, 1.5 miles west of Sherburn-in-Elmet). Clashes with cross country at Idle.

5 Feb: Harrogate Nova (9.30 from Rigton Railway Crossing, just off Pool Triangle route between A61 and Huby)

12 Feb: Otley (9 am from the market square in Otley)

19 Feb: Airedale Olympic (9.30 from Leathley Bridge, just north of bridge over Wharfe at Pool). Clashes with Stainland cross country.

4 March: Yorkshire Road Club (9.30 from Magnet Social Club, Tadcaster).

For those not familiar with these rides, they are orgainsed by five local cycling clubs and are supposed to be to improve cycling fitness before the start of the season and be done at a steady pace (in theory not more than 18mph average). In practice, they can turn into a bit of a burn up, especially in the later stages. There are usually two options, with the longer one being 80-100K and the shorter one about 50K. If you are unsure about it, I would suggest getting your own group together so that if you are dropped by the main group (inevitable in my case) you have someone to ride with.

Richard

Word on the grapevine is YRC won't be running their Reliability Ride this year due to dangerous riding reports last year.

Ill map them up in map my ride in the next few days and add the links on here/the club calender

Thanks

Nath

As per last year, I intended to take part in all of the X country races and reliability rides. However, last year there was one clash, this year there's two. With the help and guidance of Nath's maps I'm intending to ride the first reliability ride (29.01.12) one week earlier and the 19.02.12 ride one week later. If there's anyone else in the same position or just can't make either reliability ride, co-navigators would be welcome for the alternative dates. I'll post for Saturday or Sunday nearer the time.

Matt

Excellent idea Matt. I'd be up for that and should be able to navigate the Airedale Olympic route (I've never done the Seacroft Wheelers one, but Dave Morley seems to know that part of the world well judging by Tuesday's ride).
