Hi

For the start of winter training we're putting on a new monthly organised group ride.

The idea behind this is to encourage more people out at the weekends and get to know other riders of similar abilities and form your own groups.

The first ride will be October 30th meeting at Dunnies cafe in Otley.

Please see the attached pdf for details.

It would be great to see some new faces out

Furthermore;

since we will no longer be running club organized rides on a weekly basis, if your looking for other group rides; both Ilkley Cycling Club & Otley Cycling Club run regular rides catering for a wide range of abilities. Both have cheap memberships and if you let them know you want to join as 2nd claim you'll still be racing for LBT. We're talking to other cycle clubs who may offer rides for all abilities and will let them known as they become aparent.

The regular weekly group ride threads will remain open to organise your own rides wherever & whenever, no longer limited to Otley starts

If you have any questions about which group etc please email me (nathanhesslewood@hotmail.com)

Thanks

Nath

Hi, this is fantastic. I'll do my best to join up on the 30th.

I did this very route (Group 1) last Friday and it was definitely a challenge for me to get up Norwood. I've only ever been up "that hill" once before and had to stop half way. It was a mind game as I just didn't know what was round the corner.

Last Friday I got up it in one go, albeit at a very, very slow pace of 3.4 mph (virtual standstill) at the brow of the first hill, but was rewarded with a stunning view (and a Mars Bar) when I finally got to the top.

It's a fantastic route with some quiet roads and a reward of a long descent into Otley. Fully recommend it.

I would like to give Group 2 a go, and whilst not too worried about the distance I am slightly fearful I might hold the group up with my slow ascents.

Thanks for organising. Really looking forward to it.

Nathalie

Would love to join you but I'll be practising my bike mechanics on a course this day. Hopefully in November....

Just wanted to say that I ride with Ilkley CC on a regular basis and can definitely recommend them as a friendly bunch with a wide variety of rides of all standards. Could really do with a few more female riders too, to even things up a bit! They're happy for you to try a ride out without joining and its only £10 this year when you decide to! See the website http://www.ilkleycyclingclub.org.uk/ for more details.
