During the period that we weren't able to swim at Otley Sailing Club a huge amount of work went into finding ourselves an alternative OWS venue and we are still working on some of these leads...

One of the places we found was Baildon Reservoirs, in it's initial state it was too small for what we needed, however the owner had also been in touch with a canoeing and diving club who also liked the place but needed it to be bigger. Therefore the owner under took a great deal of work and has dug a couple of deep channels between two of the reservoirs that we are able to swim through and this work is now complete.

We understand that it's not great timing, however, due to the amount of effort that the owner has put into making this venue suitable for us to swim in, we ask you to make a real effort to attend two FREE sessions that we are running on Saturday 17th and 24th September between 9-10am.

You don't need to book on just turn up and register with the session organiser.

The reservoirs are on Bingley Road, Baildon BD17 6EG (though this is a new post code so Sat Nav might not pick it up). There is NO changing facilities at all at the venue and parking is very limited so we ask that you park in the car park at the top of the hill and walk down.

If you are willing to try the facilities out it will be helpful if you could post here or email ows@lbt.org.uk so that we have an idea of numbers...

Thanks Debs

Hi Debs

Sounds great, one or both of us will plan to come along on the 24th, not sure if we can make 17th. Will confirm during the week

Could you please confirm the location as there does not look to be any water on Bingley Road in Baildon but there are a few along Otley Road

thanks

Gaenor and Steve

Thanks so much all of you for agreeing to swim, I'm going to pop over there on Monday and will check the water temperature, just to make sure it's not going to be too cold for us!!

Gaenor - if you go over the tops to Baildon and turn right onto Bingley Road (just before the cattle grid) it's on your left opposite the golf course. I'm not sure why it's not on google maps - it's been there for hundreds of years!!

See you there on 24th

Debs
