Fiona Hoare has been the LBT Welfare Officer since the role was created in 2005. The role as the club Welfare Officer (CWO) is to:
- Help the club follow the guidelines laid down by the BTF Good Practice, Safeguarding and Child Protection.
- Ensure that new initiatives and information from the BTF are communicated to the club and its members.
- Ensure that Good Practice and Safeguarding is an item on the club committee meeting agendas
- Ensure that all club personnel working with young people have read the Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy in full and where necessary have an up to date DBS check from British Triathlon.
The BTF takes Safeguarding and Child Protection very seriously and has appointed and trained a Safeguarding and Child protection Officer. Every BTF affiliated club must have a nominated Club Welfare Officer. This officer in turn must attend a 3 hour Child Protection course as a requirement of the post, which Fiona has completed.
If anyone has any concerns or suspicions about Safeguarding and Child Protection within Triathlon do not hesitate to contact the welfare officer on (M) 07710 618642 or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org
